DFP voices concern over prolonged detention of Shabir Shah, others

Srinagar: Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Thursday voiced concern over the prolonged incarceration of its chairman and senior resistance leader Shabir Shah.
“The party is also worried about the prolonged imprisonment of those languishing in Tihar and other jails,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
He said that nothing has been proved against Shah. “Shah was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in July 2017 in Srinagar and was soon shifted to Tihar jail, Delhi,” he added.
The spokesperson said that Shah is exhibiting tremendous steadfastness and velour despite his serious ailments, and has time and again explained the importance of the resolution of Kashmir issue whenever he gets a chance to speak.
“Even investigating agencies have miserably failed to prove anything against Shah. The courts do not release him. It is more painful that courts are taking too long in completing the trial of the incarcerated leader who has been arrested in ‘fake and fabricated cases,’” he said.
He added: Shah has always propagated his ideology of Kashmir resolution by political means, and it is this peaceful ideology for which he is being punished.
