Urdu book Khaka Nigari Azadi Se Pehle – Azadi Ke Baad released
RAMBAN: Department of Information and Public Relations, Ramban in collaboration with Abdul Rahim Amma Foundation (ARAF) organised a Multilingual Mushaira and book release function at Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal here on Monday.
Prominent writers and poets hailing from various parts of the State including Ayub Sabir, Manshoor Banhali, Dr Khalid Rasool, Mohammad Iqbal Khan and Prof. Shahjahan Ganai presided over the proceedings of Mushaira.
During the Mushaira, various poets including Zahir Banhali, Ghulam Hassan, Mohammad Rafi, Bahar Ahmed Bahar, Showkat Ahmed and young budding poets recited their shers (couplets) and ghazals in Urdu, Kashmiri and other local languages for promoting the local dialects.
People lauded the efforts of the District Information Centre (DIC) Ramban for organising multilingual Mushaira which they said would encourage the youth of district to participate in such literary functions and develop the taste for it.
Meanwhile, Khaka Nigari Azadi Se Pehle – Azadi Ke Baad, an Urdu book authored by Dr Khalid Rasool was released on the occasion to promote Urdu language.
Dr Khalid informed that the book would be taught to students of 2nd semester of graduation course in colleges of Kashmir as well as Jammu University.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the artists, which was appreciated by the audience.
The writers and poets were felicitated and certificates and trophies were awarded to the performers by the department.
