Protests against water scarcity in Warpora, Sopore

Baramulla: Residents of Warpora in north Kashmir’s Sopore town staged a protest Friday against shortage of portable drinking water in the area.
The protestors shouted slogans against the department of Public Health and Engineering (PHE) alleging that officials were in slumber while the residents were facing acute shortage of drinking water.
Protesters also blocked the Sopore-Bandipora road for hours. They said that they are using water from nearby local streams which is not fit for drinking.
Witnesses said a police team from Warpora station later assured protestors that their grievance would be forwarded to concerned department.
