BJP to launch membership drive in Kashmir from July 6

SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch its membership drive in Kashmir on July 6, the birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, which will conclude on August 11, party’s national vice president and in-charge J&K Avinash Rai Khanna said on Monday.
Addressing the ‘Sadasyata Abhiyaan 2019’ meeting here, Khanna said the aim of party’s membership drive is to expand its reach and make it inclusive so that it reaches people from all walks of life, a statement issued here said.
He said adding new members will be enrolled through miss call and through membership form in areas which do not have mobile network.
Khanna urged the senior party workers to “work hard to reach out to the people and bring them into the party fold”, saying it will help the party to know the “genuine and dedicated” workers who would be later on promoted in the party ranking.
On the occasion, BJP in-charge Kashmir, Sunil Sharma, said the party has launched a huge development plan and in near future, the people will witness a new phase of development. “For that BJP hopes its workers will reach far off areas and bring people into party fold,” he said.
BJP state vice president Dr Ali Mohammad Mir said the leaders should intensify their activities to ensure maximum new entries into the party fold.
Media in-charge Kashmir Manzoor Bhat gave a complete power-point-presentation and educated the leaders about the membership drive.
Other present on the occasion were state spokesperson Altaf Thakur, senior leader Ghulma Mohammad Mir, district president Srinagar Arif Raja, grievance cell in-charge Kashmir Dr Ali Mohammad Mir, programme coordinator Kashmir Ashok Bhat and others, protocol in-charge Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, vice president Srinagar Asif Masoodi and others.
Meanwhile, Avinash Rai Khanna on Monday visited the residence of slain police officer Arshid Khan in Srinagar and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Khanna, according to a statement, met the family members of slain police officer and assured all possible support to them especially the brothers of Arshid.
Later, the BJP leaders offered special Fateha prayers for the departed soul.
