‘Need to educate new generation with rich heritage, culture’
SRINAGAR: As a part of the national-level programme series, the Sahitya Akademi New Delhi organised ‘Nari Chaitna’ programme at Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kothi Bagh here on Thursday.
Aimed at empowerment of female writers and poets, the programme, according to an official statement, was inaugurated by Convener Kashmiri Advisory Board Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, Dr Aziz Hajini.
The female poets of Kashmiri language mesmerised the audience especially students of GHSS Kothi Bagh who have opted for literature as special study at +2 level, the statement said.
The poets who participated in the programme included Prof Naseem Shafaiee, Saba Shaheen, Shayista Akhter, Rehana Kouser and Shameema Tabasum.
In his inaugural address, Dr Aziz Hajini laid stress on the need to educate the new generation of Kashmir with their rich heritage, culture and literature. He emphasised upon the role of teachers and parents in this direction.
Principle GHSS Kothi Bagh Romana Qazi while welcoming the guests assured full support to such initiatives in future also. Besides teachers and lovers of literature, members of Kashmiri Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, Dr Shayista Ahmad, Shabnam Tilgami were present on the occasion.
OSD Cultural Education, Directorate of School Education Kashmir, G N Shakir presented the vote of thanks while Nisar Ahmad conducted the proceedings of the programme.
