Srinagar: Shopkeepers at the Pamposh Shopping Complex Batamaloo are facing immense problems due to bad condition of road near the complex.
The roads surrounding the complex are in a terrible state, for want to repairs over the years.
“It is very difficult to even enter the complex because of the road. In bad weather condition we are not able to even walk on the road,” said Mehra-ud-Din, a shopkeeper.
Shopkeepers said their business has been hit as they cannot unload stocks near the shop because of the state of the road.
“Last year they (authority) dug the main entrance points of the bus yard and dumped the waste near the complex. After that they had do some drainage work here and left the site without closing the holes, due to which it turned into big potholes,” Mehraj said.
He added that the mud and opening of drainage holes near the complex irks customers as well as hamper the business.
“We approached the authorities many times, but nothing has been done. We only need macadamizing of the road near the complex so that we can have a sigh of relief,” he said.
Another shopkeeper, Farooq Ahmad said, “We are paying road tax, and it is right to claim good road. Every week I have to take my vehicle for servicing as these potholes have degraded the condition of my vehicle,” he said, adding, the authority should fully macadamize the road.
Nazir Ahmad, a cab driver said that his one year old looks five year old because of the road state.
“I have to spend money on daily basis on the repairing of vehicle and at the same time I have to repay the car loan amount,” Ahmad said.
He added that if the road is not repaired, he would be forced to sell his vehicle which is the only source of income for his family.
Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Sajid Hussain, told Kashmir Reader that the road “is in the list” and would be macadamized this year.
