‘Bring J&K Bank under RTI ambit’

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information Movement (RTIM) on Wednesday demanded that J&K Bank should be brought under RTI ambit and appealed to the Bank chairman to take necessary steps in this direction so that RTI issue is put before the Board of Directors (BoD) as soon as possible.
In a statement, chairman of RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat appreciated the statement of Chief Secretary B V R Subramanyam’ that J&K Bank would be brought under the ambit of JK RTI Act 2009 within a month or so.
“Chief Secretary cleared all our doubts regarding J&K Bank during the Governor’s press conference. We hope government will provide all the support to new management of J&K Bank headed by R K Chibber as the interim chairman,” he said.
He also suggested that all the branch heads of Jammu & Kashmir Bank be designated as Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Cluster heads as First Appellate Authorities (FAAs) as mandated under RTI law so that people can have easy access to information at grass-root level.
