ML slams attempt to prolong detention of Masarat Alam

SRINAGAR: Muslim League on Wednesday slammed an attempt to prolong the detention of its chairman Masarat Alam and said that not releasing him after High court quashed his 37th PSA is worst example of “political vendetta”.
The spokesperson in a statement said: Alam is not presented before the court despite orders from the court. Authorities don’t pay heed on the court orders. The authorities tarnish the image and stature of its own judiciary by not respecting him.
“The authorities are deliberately using these tactics to prolong his detention,” he alleged and said, “It is the worst form of human right violations.”
He added: These tactics will not deter us from pursuing our goal of freedom.
Muslim League called for an early release of Alam and appealed world human rights bodies to come forward and take note of “illegal detention” of Alam under the draconian law – PSA.
