Pak seals offices of all Kashmiri militant groups affiliated with UJC: report

Srinagar: The Pakistan government has sealed offices of all the twelve Kashmiri militant organisations that have been operating from Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK) for the past 32 years, reported Independent Urdu.
The newspaper reported that offices of all 12 organisations affiliated with the United Jihad Council (UJC), a group of Kashmir focussed militant outfits, were sealed. It quoted UJC affiliated militants saying the Pakistan government, which until now had harboured and provided financial support to the outfits, withdrew that support after the suicide bombing in Pulwama killed more than 40 CRPF troops on the Srinagar-Jammu highway on February 14.
The move has come in the backdrop of mounting pressure by the Financial Action Task Force or FATF which put Pakistan in the grey list of money-laundering and terror financing. Pakistan has been facing intense international pressure to act against banned militant outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Toiba, among others. The Paris-based FATF’s blacklisting is expected to incur the country a loss of $10 billion annually.
This is the first time in the past 32 years of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir that Pakistan has sealed the offices and also stopped financial assistance, the report said.
