JKLF leader Noor Muhammad Kalwal booked under PSA, shifted to jail in Anantnag

Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Noor Muhammad Kalwal has been booked under Public safety act (PSA) and shifted to Mattan jail in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Saturday, the chief spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar .
“Kalwal was arrested by police on April 30 and was lodged at police station Kothi-bagh,” he said in a statement.
Terming the slapping of PSA on Noor Muhammad Kalwal and extension of PSA on another JKLF leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt as travesty of justice, Dar said that “it is shameful and unlawful too on the part of civil administration which is serving as subservient to the police and singing PSA orders without applying their mind and conscience”.
He said that in holy month of Ramadan and at the eve of Eid like festivals, inmates are freed from jails, “but in Kashmir, jails are being filled with more and more inmates”.
“Muhammad Yasin Malik, Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Shahid-ul-Islam ,Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saif-u-ullah, Raja Meraj-u-Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmad Dar (Bitta Karatay), businessmen Zahoor Ahmad Watali and Muhammad Aslam, Javid Ahmad and Shahid Yousuf Shah, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar along with ailing Syed Asiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sofi and Nahida Nasreen are actually political prisoners held by so-called biggest democracy which is actually shameful,” he said.
The spokesman said that it is the obligation of the international community to safeguard these inmates and secure their earliest release from jails.
