NIT observes world telecom and info society day

SRINAGAR: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre, in collaboration with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Friday held a seminar to observe ‘World Telecommunication and Information Society Day-2019’.
More than 100 people including representatives of mobile service providers participated in the seminar, which focused on the theme ‘Bridging the Standardization Gap’.
On the occasion, Director, National Institute of Technology Srinagar, Prof Rakesh Sehgal stressed on conducting such seminars to boost the concept of modern technologies important in the day-to-day life of people, a handout read.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers, Aamir Ali, said that telecommunication has made the world a global village and percolated in every aspect of modern day life.
“Due to technological advancement, telecommunication has waved out traditional and conventional concepts and empowered a wide range of new digital technologies, which involves Artificial Intelligence, The Internet of Things, unmanned vehicles, 3D printing, 5G network, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Machine Learning, advanced robotics, to mention a few,” he said.
Managing Director, J&K State Road Transport Corporation, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Associate Professor, NIT Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad Mir also spoke on the occasion.
