SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik has conveyed his greetings on Buddha Purnima and hoped that this auspicious occasion would augur peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In his message of felicitations, Governor described Lord Buddha as an apostle of peace whose message of ahimsa and non-violence assumes much greater relevance today when the world is faced with growing intolerance, and violence.
Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.
Meanwhile, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice President Omar Abdullah extended warm greeting to the people on the eve of Budh Purnima.
The duo in their message said, “May we be enlightened on this day on the path of love, compassion, peace and truth. On this day we pray for abundance, fortune and prosperity to the people of state. The message of Buddha to world was that of compassion and love.”
Among others party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Hanifa Jan, P Angchuk have also greeted the people on the auspicious eve of Budh Purima.
Advisor to Governor K K Sharma also extended greetings to people on the eve of Budh Purnima.
In his message of felicitations, Advisor described Lord Buddha as an epitome of peace whose message of ahimsa is more relevant in the present day and age in view of the growing intolerance, violence.
He said people should follow the path and teachings of the Lord Buddha for leading a peaceful and contented life.
He prayed for the well being of the people of the State.
