JRL calls for shutdown today

SRINAGAR: The joint resistance leadership (JRL) has called for complete shutdown on Friday against the “gruesome” killing of civilians – Arshad Ahmad Dar (Pattan), Raiees Ahmad Dar (Pulwama) and Nayeem Ahmad Shah (Bhaderwah) – by government forces and cow vigilantes in the holy month of Ramadan.
JRL also appealed people especially youth to maintain peace and discipline while leading protest march after Friday prayers.
In a statement, the leadership blamed New Delhi for turning Jammu and Kashmir into a “war field” saying people suffer from a deep sense of insecurity and their life, honour and belongings are at stake.
It appealed the imams and khateebs to apprise people of the “ongoing wave of oppression and repression” by forces.
The leadership also expressed grave concern over what it termed as the volatile situation in Kashmir saying people get killed, maimed, blinded by pellets and randomly arrested on flimsy grounds.
JRL appealed the UN Secretary General to take strong note of the “gross violation of human rights” in Jammu and Kashmir and help resolve it in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people.
