Baramulla: Residents of Gowalta village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a protest against the shortage of teachers in nearby government high school Gowalta.
The protesters shouted slogans against the Education department, who, they said, failed to fulfil their demand repeatedly. They said that the school faced shortage of teaching staff for years with nobody solving the problem.
The villagers said that there are only five teachers at the school with more then 200 students and that the villagers have approached officials several times over the issue.
The school, they said, is under RMSA and eight master posts were lying vacant at the school from years.
They said that if the department fails to resolve the issue they would be forced to hit the streets.
