Hami chairs meet of Shia-Suni community in Sumbal, urges unity

Srinagar: A meeting of Shia-Suni Coordination Committee and the Civil Society members of Tregam, Sumbal was held on Tuesday here which was chaired by Karwan-e-Islami patron Ghulam Rasool Hami.
“The meeting expressed serious concern over the rape incident and stressed that time demands that the sectarian harmony must be maintained at all levels and the designs of some vested interests who are hell-bent to create a sectarian divide by presenting the incident in a wrong manner, should be defeated on all fronts,” the statement said.
Hami said that all the members of Coordination Committee and the Civil Society Tregam, irrespective of their sectarian ideology, stand united in this hour of grief and demand an exemplary punishment to the guilty. “There can be no compromise with the justice and every heart of Kashmir is awaiting justice for the three-year-old victim,” he added.
The meeting, according to Hami, decided unanimously that full support will be given to the divisional, local administration and the police so that investigation is taken to its logical conclusion.
Hami urged for a unity and said some elements are out to trigger a sectarian war in Kashmir, “but the only way to defeat those elements is to stand united and steadfast on all fronts so that these elements don’t succeed in their evil designs”.
“All the participants of the meeting agreed to forge unity, remain united and to defeat the elements trying to divide people on sectarian lines,” the statement said.
