Kupwara: Two army men were injured in a landmine blast along the Line of Control in Machil sector of frontier Kupwara district late Saturday evening. Sources said that a team of army’s 56 RR was on patrol duty when they stepped on a landmine near their post in Machil sector. Fellow soldiers carried the injured army men to the nearby army hospital, from where they were shifted to army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar. The injured soldiers were identified as Havaldar Jaipal Singh and Naik Vikram Mane, both belonging to 56 RR. The army spokesperson said that an investigation has been started into the case. SSP Kupwara AS Dinkar could not be contacted for his comments because of poor mobile phone network.
