Srinagar youths protest Sumbal toddler’s rape

SRINAGAR: Several youth held a protest in Srinagar on Saturday against the rape of a 3-year-old-girl in Malikpora, Sumbal in Bandipora district.
Scores of youths from Srinagar assembled at Press Enclave demanding strict punishment to the culprit.
The protestors held placards and banners with the messages “Girls are not toys”, “Hang the rapist Tahir Ahmad”, “RIP Humanity and “We want Justice for …”.
Rizwan Malik, one of the protestors said that it was an inhuman act which deserved strict punishment.
“Girls are not now safe in Kashmir, everyday we receive the news of such cases. We youths request the authorities to hang the culprits so, these types of incidents are not repeated,” Malik said.
The protesters said that some people are trying to shield the culprit and appealed J&K governor Satya Paul Malik and Director General of Police to take stringent action.
