Mustafa Kamal slams ‘derogatory’ remarks on Abdullah family

Jammu: The National Conference leader Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal on Saturday said that passing “derogatory’ remarks on the leading political family – Abdullah’s is a deliberate and shameful attempt to vilify this family in the eyes of the people.
“It would be in the fitness of things to remind the personage in question that it is the people of the state who have made this family as their first choice because it was this family who under the J&K National Conference party raised a banner of revolt against the then ruler for the emancipation of the impoverished people of J&K and liberated them from abject poverty and misery of one hundred years,” he said in a statement.
He said the office of the Governor has been denigrated by the very person occupying this office by exceeding his brief. “Going overboard to please his bosses in Delhi is bound to be detrimental to the genuine National interests which, as it is, has severely dented the secular, democratic and socialist image of the union beyond redemption,” Kamal said.
