KU’s question papers leaked on WhatsApp, inquiry committee set up

Srinagar: Two exam papers of the BA 2nd semester course of Kashmir University, one of English and the other of Environmental Science, were reportedly leaked and shared on WhatsApp. The university has postponed the Environmental Science paper scheduled on Saturday after it appeared on social media well before the examination could start.

The one-hour exam of English subject on May 9 began at 3pm, but the question paper was widely shared on WhatsApp on May 8, students alleged.

The leaked question paper, they said, “was an exact match of the one we sat for on Thursday”.

A student at Government Degree College Kulgam received the question paper on Wednesday evening at 8:40pm, he said.

He said one of his friends had forwarded the leaked question paper to him after coming across it on WhatsApp.

On Saturday, the KU postponed the EVS paper of the 2nd semester at the last moment after the paper was widely shared on social media before the examination.

Students questioned the working of Kashmir University that led to the question papers being leaked before the examination.

Controller of Examinations at KU, Prof Farooq A Mir, told Kashmir Reader that an inquiry committee had been set up over the paper leak.

The committee, which has the Additional Controller Examinations as its Chairman and Deputy Controller as member, will submit the report in four days, Prof Mir added.
