Srinagar: The Kashmir highway was closed on Thursday due to fresh landslides and shooting stones in Ramban stranding hundreds of vehicles.
A traffic police official said that according to the routine the traffic was supposed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar on Thursday after civilian traffic remained suspended on Wednesday due to ban to allow movement of security force convoy, he said.
However, traffic was suspended on the highway today morning following fresh huge landslides at Digdol Ramban last evening, the traffic police official said.
He said that men and machinery have been pressed into service to clear the landslides. However, he said, it will take 24 hours to put through traffic on the highway. Traffic will be resumed only after getting green signal from officials posted at different places.
