Two army men injured in landmine blast along LoC

Kupwara: Two army men were injured on Sunday afternoon in a landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in frontier Kupwara district. Sources said that a team of army’s 2/8 GR regiment was on patrol along the LoC near Khanthawala post when two among them stepped on a landmine, which immediately exploded.
The sources said that other army men of the team took them to a nearby army hospital, from where they were shifted to army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar. The sources said that both army men had sustained serious injuries in their feet and legs.
The identity of the injured men could not be confirmed as yet.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara AS Dinkar said that police were waiting for the army’s confirmation of the injuries.
“We are waiting for the army’s confirmation. Till that time we cannot comment,” Dinkar said.
