Srinagar: On the opening day of civil secretariat and other offices of Jammu and Kashmir government in summer capital Srinagar on Monday as part of bi-annual Durbar move, former legislator Er Rasheed staged a protest outside civil secretariat against the government over the jailing of separatist leaders and its failure to make roads all-weather roads.
Former MLA along with dozens of supporters raised anti-government slogans for its failure to make Mughal road all weather friendly. “Huge money is spent on the face lifting of the city roads every year. The same money should be spent on making Mughal road an all-weather friendly,” Rasheed said.
Rasheed criticized the government over the jailing of separatist leaders and its failure to book the policemen involved into the killing of school teacher Rizwan Pandit.
He warned that these tactics wouldn’t dampen the spirit of the Kashmiri people.
Earlier the day, Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik received the guard of honour in the lawns of civil secretariat here.
