Sehrai condemns ‘arrest spree’ in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Moahammad Ashraf Sehrai on Saturday condemned the “arrest spree” of youth in south Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama ahead of parliamentary election.

In a statement, he said: “Elections are meaningless in presence of draconian laws like AFSPA, mass arrests of youth and activists. When it comes to Kashmir, the meaning of every democratic exercise is to silence every political dissent with military might and jailing innocent people.”

He said that elections is mere a military exercise aimed at damaging Kashmir dispute and hoodwink international community.

Meanwhile, Sehrai prayed and expressed his best wishes for the immediate recovery of ailing resistance leader and chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani who was admitted at Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura (SKIMS) for pacemaker assessment.
