Complete languishing projects within timeline: DC Anantnag directs executing agencies

Anantnag: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir on Saturday convened a meeting to review status of languishing projects in the district.
The DDC directed the executing departments to mobilize there men and machinery so that all projects are completed within time frame. He said due to limited working season, it is necessary to increase pace of execution. “Delay in implementation leads to cost escalation and people are deprived of the developmental benefits,” he said.
The scheme wise time line was fixed to ensure timely completion of all projects. The meeting was informed that under R&B sector 36 projects of the estimated cost of 67.50 crore have been taken up for execution.
The DDC directed concerned executive engineers to ensure completion of all roads by September 2019 besides under construction bridge at Sangran Nallah must be completed by November 2019 which will enable better connectivity to the people of the area. Out of 6 bridges in Qazigund Division 5 are to be completed by August 2019.
In PHE sector out of total 203 works, 138 are tendered, 106 allotted and 88 under progress concerned executive engineers was directed to complete all ongoing water supply schemes expeditiously so that safe drinking water facility would be made available to the common people at earliest. Directions were issued to Revenue Authorities to facilitate the land identification for Sligam water supply scheme and Chalkipora Achabal water supply scheme.
Executive Engineer PDD informed the meeting that 02 schemes reliable power supply to Pahalgam and system improvement scheme of Doru are at verge of completion.
The DDC directed to maintain quality and ensure transparency in execution.
During the meeting the executive engineers of R&B, PHE & PDD raised the issue of release of payments in respect of work done claims, the DDC Anantnag asked them to furnish work wise work done details within 03 days in respect of approve ongoing projects so that matter could be taken up with appropriate quarters.
