Shopian encounter: Internet services snapped in South Kashmir

Srinagar: Mobile Internet service was snapped in entire south Kashmir after one militant was killed in an ongoing encounter in Aarkhara Village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday morning, reports said.

Reports said that after credible inputs about the presence of two to three militants in the village, government forces cordoned the habitation early morning. After thorough search contact was established with the hiding militants leading to an encounter.

During the ongoing encounter one militant was killed.

Reports said the identity of the slain militants was not confirmed yet.

It is pertinent to mention that the 3rd and final phase of staggered polls for Anantnag Parliamentary seat are scheduled on May 6 in the district.
