Baramulla: A primary and a middle school in Pattan area of Baramulla, merged two years ago, are grappling with space shortage despite the merger.
Students and the staff said that they had just two rooms for the nine classes in the two schools.
Sources said that the Government Primary School Chanpora and Government Middle School Kanloo falling under education zone Pattan were merged two years ago by the department of school education.
The paucity of space is creating problems for the staff as well as students.
“There are more then 50 students in these two schools from class LKG to class 9th, and the helpless teachers are forcing them to sit in only two classes. You can understand how they would understand what they are taught. Locals knocked every door but no one provides them a new building” a local resident, Abdul Hamid said.
Student said that though the teachers leave no stone unturned, but it is very difficult for students to understand lessons in a crowded room.
They appealed Education department officials to provide them a school building at the earliest.
