DEO reviews election preparedness in Zanskar

KARGIL: During his two days visit of Zanskar Sub Division District Election Officer (DEO), Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary on Thursday took stock of the preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in the Sub Division.
Superintendent of Police Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar and other concerned officers accompanied the DEO.
The DEO convened a meeting with the Assistant Returning Officer, Micro Observers and the officers and officials of Civil and Police Administration associated with the election process and enquired from them the status of preparedness for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting discussed in detail the election related matters including the deployment of polling staff, functioning of the already constituted teams, distribution and collection of polling related material, security plan provision of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) at the polling stations and other related aspects.
He emphasized upon the concerned officers to perform their assigned responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication and to strictly adhere to the ECI guidelines in order to conduct free, fair, transparent and ethical elections.
Meanwhile, under the overall supervision of the DEO a cleanliness drive was also organized at Padum as a part of “SWEEP under SVEEP” campaign in which a large number of employees, police personnel as well as the general public participated.
A signature campaign Yul to Polling Station was also held on the occasion in which hundreds of people participated and expressed their resolve to cast their votes on May 6.
Later, the DEO also visited the Tehsil Office, Election Control Room, Strong Room and Dispatch Centre and interacted with the employees and police personnel.
The DC also met several public delegations, enquired about their welfare and listened to their grievances and issues.
