Day after opening, landslide disrupts traffic on Mughal Road

SHOPIAN: A day after the Mughal Road was opened for vehicular movement after five months of closure, a landslide disrupted traffic on the road for hours.
The landslide hit the road at Mansar area of district Poonch, however, the traffic was restored by afternoon after the road was cleared.
Officials from Mechanical Engineering department told Kashmir Reader that the traffic was disrupted for many hours and traffic was not allowed to move from Ponshana, till the road was cleared.
The 84-kilometer road connects Shopian in Kashmir with Poonch in Jammu region. The road remains closed every year for almost five months because of snow.
A fresh snowfall was also reported in the area.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Mechanical Engineering department, Fayaz Ahmad, said six inches of snowfall were recorded in Pir ki Gali area.
On Thursday traffic was allowed from Poonch towards Shopian, while on Friday traffic movement would be allowed from Shopian towards Poonch.
