Former BJP worker shot at, injured in south Kashmir’s Tral

Srinagar: A former BJP worker was was shot at and injured after he was fired upon by unidentified gunmen at Kachmulla village of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district Thursday evening.

Reports said that unidentified gunmen fired upon Abdul Rashid, a resident of Kachmulla village of Tral belt. Rashid according to reports was associated with BJP and has received critical injuries.

A police officer confirmed to a local news gathering agency and said that he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

Soon after the incident, a joint team of Army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the assailants. 

Meanwhile,  BJP state spokesman, Altaf Thakur told the agency that Rashid was a BJP worker till 2014 only.
