Policeman dead, 20 injured in road accident returning from poll duty

Anantnag: A policeman was killed and more than twenty persons were injured in a road accident in Kokernag area of Anantnag district on Tuesday evening. The injured persons including ten CRPF personnel were returning from poll duty when their vehicle overturned.
The injured were rushed to Sub-District Hospital Kokernag from where 11 persons were referred to District Hospital Anantnag. The injured are being treated at the two hospitals.
The deceased policeman, identified as Hilal Ahmad Khan of Tral area of Pulwama district, was confirmed brought dead at district Hospital Anantnag, said Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Abdul Majeed Mehrib.
The accident occurred near Zalangam area of Kokernag, where according to reports, the vehicle bearing registration number JK01F-4935 overturned, resulting in the death of Hilal Ahmad Khan and injuries to more than 20 persons.
Reports said that the vehicle fell into a gorge as the driver, ferrying poll staffers from Kokernag to Anantnag, lost control over the vehicle.
