SRINAGAR: The district administration Baramulla has sought an explanation from the district’s Chief Education Officer (CEO), for transferring a transfer allegedly “at the behest of a union leader” in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
The transfer order has been kept in abeyance for now.
An order issued on Friday by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla said that CEO Baramulla had transferred a regularised Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher (RRT) posted at Primary School, Mumkak Sopore to Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sopore to teach Environmental Science to classes 11 and 12.
The RRT, the order said, has replaced a doctorate teacher, who has been teaching the subject in the institution “on the recommendation of Principal Girls Higher Secondary School, Sopore”.
The teacher transferred out of the higher secondary school has complained to deputy commissioner Baramulla alleging the transfer had been made at the behest of a union leader who is said to be a close aide of ex-union leader, Abdul Qayoom Wani -the PDP’s candidate for the Baramulla parliamentary seat.
“The order issued is violative of Model Code of Conduct and is further bizarre in terms of academic ethics wherein a qualified, trained PhD teacher is replaced by an RRT teacher to teach the subject of EVS to the students of 11thand 12th standard,” the order issued by ADC Baramulla said.
“The impugned order is kept in abeyance and the issuing authority is directed to respond as to why the model code of conduct has been violated,” it adds.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, CEO Baramulla, G M Lone denied having affected the transfer.
