JKLF hails people for rejecting polls

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday hailed the people of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal for rejection the Lok Sabah elections.
In a statement, the acting chairman of JKLF, Abdul Hameed Butt said that Srinagar being the Capital of Jammu Kashmir (JK) state has always stood with the resistance and “despite all odds the people of Kashmir have once again displayed their unequivocal support for the cause of freedom of their motherland”.
He said that Modi has been claiming that Kashmiri resistance is confined to two and a half districts of J&K only. “Boycott of elections by an overwhelming majority of Kashmiris is a befitting reply to Modi and should serve as an eye opener for Indian policy makers and for the international community as well,” Butt said.
The acting chairman said that Kashmiris believe in democracy, but when the same is used to deny a nation its democratic right of self-determination and right of freedom, then people are left with no choice but to reject and boycott such “farcical elections”.
He said that international community will come of its slumber one day and pay attention towards the deteriorating situation in J&K and use its good offices to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of the people of the state.
