Police organises social media awareness cum cultural event at Baramulla

Baramulla: District Police Baramulla organised social media awareness cum cultural event at Sherwani Hall here on Wednesday in which members of civil society, media fraternity, school children and teachers participated.
The event was aimed at strengthening police public relations and nourishing the children’s talent and aware them and civil society regarding social media, its benefits and negative effects, a senior police officer said.
Cultural programmes were performed by various schools who were given musical instruments like piano, guitar, tabla, and harmonium as assets for school.
The step was taken to provide the instruments to the young budding talent for showcasing their abilities.
On the occasion, police also distributed equipment/material like water purifier, Braille paper, uniforms, and inverters among two schools of Baramulla – Blind School Baramulla and KGBV Khawajabagh Baramulla.
The event was presided over by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Baramulla. The guest on the occasion was Deputy Commissioner Baramulla.
DIG north Kashmir and SSP Baramulla addressed the people with an appeal to maintain communal harmony and be vigilant while dealing with their kids with respect to smart phones and social media.
DIG impressed upon civil society and teacher community to act as responsible torchbearers of the society and assured them complete support from police in organising and supporting events which will bring up talent and streamline the future of the young generation of Baramulla.
The events performed include Qawali by Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla, Unity Skit by Government High School Nillah, and Roff by Government Girls Middle School Khawajabagh.
Police Public School Baramulla also participated in the event with colourful cultural programme. The District Police Baramulla also distributed pamphlets among students and citizens regarding DOs and Don’ts of social media.
