Constable injured in grenade attack on CRPF camp in Tral

Anantnag: A paramilitary CRPF constable was injured in a grenade blast after militants fired it with a grenade launcher at a camp of the paramilitary forces here in Nowdal area of Tral in Pulwama district on Wednesday.
“The injured trooper has minor splinter injuries and is completely out of danger,” a senior police official said. He identified the injured man as Constable Prashant.
The attack was carried out at about 7:10 PM in Nowdal area of Tral where the CRPF camp of 180 Bn is located.
“The militants launched a grenade using a UBGL (under barrel grenade launcher). It exploded within the premises of the camp causing minor injuries to one of the CRPF personnel,” the police official said.
Following the explosion, the area was cordoned off and searches were carried out to try and nab the attackers.
This was the second grenade attack in Tral area in as many days. On Tuesday, the venue of a poll meeting of the National Conference was attacked in Upper Tral.
The poll meeting venue was the house of a senior leader of the party. The NC’s candidate for Anantnag parliamentary seat, Hasnain Masoodi, was also present in the house when the attack took place. The explosion caused no damage, however.
