Pattan driver’s murder: Family stages protest, demands culprits be identified

Baramulla: The family members of a Pattan driver who was found dead recently, on Tuesday staged a protest demanding involved culprits be identified and dealt with strictly.

The reports said that a large number of people from Mamoosa area of Pattan on Tuesday and staged a protest in front of police station Pattan against the police who ‘failed’ to arrest the culprits.

The protesting people said that Jan Mohammad Bhat son of Mohammad Assadullah Bhat of Mamoosa village had gone missing on 22 March and his dead body was recovered from a local stream after few days.

They alleged that there was serious injury marks on the body which had indicated that deceased was first murdered and then the body was thrown into the local stream.

The protesting people blocked the Srinagar-Baramulla road for some time and alleged that “police is not serious to solve the case”.

However, SSP Baramulla Abdul Qayoom reached on the spot and assured that culprits will be behind the bars very soon.

While talking to media, SSP said that some people have been arrested in this regard and police will crack the case very soon with evidence and proofs.

Later, the protesting people dispersed peacefully and traffic movement was restored on the busy road.
