Demand withdrawal of FIR, permission to meet kin

Srinagar: Family members of inmates at the Central Jail Srinagar Tuesday held a protest here demanding withdrawal of FIR registered against the inmates regarding clashes at the jail that took place on April 5.
Scores of families assembled in press enclave holding placards in their hands reading ‘Stop Shifting Kashmiri prisoners outside valley’, ‘Prisoners are not safe’, and ‘Our sons are dying in Central Jail’.
The protestors said that the Central Jail should not be turned into “Guantanamo Jail”, and that the inmates should not be shifted to other jails outside the valley.
Asima Jan, one of the protesters hailing from Batamaloo said, “After the incident took place inside the Central Jail Srinagar, we are not allowed to meet our family members lodged at the jail.”
“The FIR registered against the inmates regarding the incident, which took place during the intervening night of April 04 and 05, in which several inmates were injured, should be withdrawn,” another protestor said.
