Karwan-e-Aman bus service, trade at Salambad both in suspension, locals up in protest
Baramulla: The bus service across Line of Control (LoC) called as Karwan-e-Aman (caravan of peace) remains suspended for the seventh week at border crossing Kaman post in Uri.
Official sources said that there were some cracks in the bridge at Kaman post Uri and the Indian Army had taken the charge of repairing the bridge. However, on Monday the seventh week began since the bus service was suspended.
Officials said that not only the bus service, the trade between the two parts of Kashmir at Salambad trading point is also suspended since the army took charge of repairing the bridge.
Local people, including guests who have come from the other side of Kashmir, and traders who import and export commodities through the bridge are up in protest against the government and army authorities, asking why they have failed to repair the bridge for the past one and a half month.
Locals said that there seemed to be some “agencies” at work who want trade and travel across the border not to take place.
They appealed to the authorities to take serious notice and immediate steps to resume the trade and the bus service.
