Kangan: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehooba Mufti on Friday said that her party always stood for safeguarding the interests of the people of State.
“PDP is committed to preserving the sanctity of Article 35-A and 370 and party will do everything for protecting the special status of the state,” Mehbooba said while addressing a poll rally in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday.
Mehbooba said J&K is a Muslim majority state which acceded to India under certain conditions and that condition is Article 35-A and 370. “Article 35-A and 370 grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, while empowers the state legislature to define the states permanent residents and their special rights and privileges,” she added.
Mehbooba said we need to first protect Article 35-A and 370 before restoration of the provision of PM and sadar-e-riyasat or internal autonomy.
Speaking on the recent killing of an engineering student turned militant from Nunar locality, she said every day we see little boys martyred during encounters. “Let us introspect that who is responsible for it,” she said.
