Srinagar: Muslim League on Wednesday called for an election boycott and said that the people of Kashmir are demanding plebiscite and not the so-called elections
In a statement, ML general secretary M Rafiq Ganaie said: “The election drama enacted by the GoI is a political gimmick to hoodwink the international community about the Kashmir dispute and the prevailing situation of the territory.”
“New Delhi uses polls as a means to dilute Jammu and Kashmir’s disputed status and to undo the holding of a referendum as promised at the United Nation,” he said.
Ganaie said that “the people of Kashmir had not rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the so-called elections but for securing their right to self-determination”. He maintained that the Kashmiri people were determined to take the ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion against all odds.
