Case registered, two appointees arrested
Srinagar: Police on Tuesday filed a case against senior officials of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura for allegedly tampering with the official documents to appoint Class IV employees at the institute “illegally.”
According to official sources, police Tuesday arrested two female employees in connection with alleged fake appointments at SKIMS Soura over last two years.
They said police has registered a case (FIR 16/2019) under sections 420 (fraud) and 467 (forgery) against the officials of SKIMS Soura and employees appointed by way of fake orders.
“The illegal appointments have been made in connivance with the senior officials including Director SKIMS. Most of these appointments were made in the ministerial wing,” a police official said.
He said more arrests would be made in coming days as the initial investigation “is pointing towards a big scam”.
“So far we got to know that nearly 10 employees have been appointed illegally by the officials by violating the norms. Some of them have been working as domestic helps with senior officials while drawing salary against various posts in the institution,” the official said.
