Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Europe Zone held a protest outside Indian High Commission in Brussels, Belgium against banning the party and arrest of its chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, a chief spokesman Rafiq Dar said on Tuesday.
Dar in a statement issued here said: The protest was led by Mushtaq Hussain Dewan, Masood Iqbal Mir, Srdar Zahid Hussain, Mushtaq Pasha, Sardar Naseem Iqbal Advocate, Shabir Ahmad Mirza, Ashfaq Qamar, Khan Habib Khan, Imran Butt, Sardar Adanan Hanif, Zaheer Zahi, Dr Ishtaq Iltaf Khan, Amjid Hussan, Sharif Chaudhry, Nadeem Khan Jaral, Naqash Mushtaq, BabarMirza, Master Ghanzfar, Tariq Hussain Thorarvi, Bazil Naseem, Jaluuehra Sighn and others.
“The speakers on the occasion termed the banning of JKLF and arrest of Yasin Malik as undemocratic and demanded immediate revocation of ban on the party and release of its chairman. The protesters chanted pro-freedom slogans and vowed to continue the protests if India did not stop human rights violations in Kashmir,” he said.
“We will not allow India to succeed in anti-Kashmir and anti-Kashmiri designs in Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
While strongly reacting to home minister Ranjnath Singh’s recent statement, Dar stated that “India can’t make the people of the state to surrender their right to self-determination”.
He further said: “BJP’s election manifesto to abrogate article 370 and 35-A, banning local inhabitants to use the very important Jammu Srinagar national highway, putting curbs on the movement of common masses and putting behind the bars the popular leadership clearly indicates that they use it as an election stunt.”
The spokesman also condemned the harassment of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the sons of Syed Ali Geelani by the NIA.
