Wages pending for last 18 months, PHE employees hold massive protest

SRINAGAR: The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Joint Employees’ Association on Monday held a massive protest demonstration here in Srinagar, demanding the immediate release of their long-pending wages.
Protesters from various districts of the Kashmir valley assembled here chanting slogans of ‘We want justice’, ‘We want regularisation’ and ‘Release our earned pending wages’.
The protesting employees also said that they are demanding regularisation of their services as per the SRO 520.
Chairman, PHE Joint Employees’ Association, Sajad Ahmad Parray said the protest that is going on form last eight till will continue till the time government accepts the demands of employees.
“Today, we are going to hold a meeting with the government officials. If our demands will be accepted by the government in the meeting, then we will go to attend our duties regularly,” Parray said.
“The wages of daily wagers, casual labourers, land donors and ITI workers are pending with the department since the last 18 months,” he added.
Parray also said that we want our 18 months wages to be released at one time. “We did not accept it if the government will release our wages in installments.
“We are demanding the government to release our pending wages and regularisation of services under SRO 520,” he added.
“We did not want to hit the streets, but when our demands are not fulfilled by the government, we have have only one option to press our demands,” the protesting PHE employees said.
