Police solve theft case in Budgam, 2 arrested

BUDGAM: Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the theft case and recovered the stolen money within 24 hours.

A police spokesman in a statement said that on April 1, 2019 Branch Head Ecom Express office Budgam lodged a written complaint to the police station that during intervening night of 31/01-04-2019 unknown thieves after damaging the doors of the main office of the enterprise, have stolen cash from the locker.

A case FIR No. 70/2019 US 457,380 was registered in police station Budgam and investigation was set into motion.


During the investigation, many suspects were brought for questioning. On the basis of CCTV footage and the available evidence a suspect namely Adil Jahangeer Dar S/o Ab Ahad Dar R/o Razwen Budgam was taken into custody. The accused confessed the crime and on his disclosure police team led by SHO Budgam conducted several raids and succeeded in recovering the stolen amount of Rs 3,65,340 (Three lac sixty five thousands three hundred fourty rupees) and arresting the other two accomplices of the accused involved in the crime.

General public has appreciated the prompt action of police, the spokesman added.
