PDP protests ‘lack of development’ in Bandipora

Bandipora: A protest rally was held by peoples’ democratic party (PDP) in this north Kashmir district on Wednesday against ‘lack of development and other pro-people initiatives’ by the government.
PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat along with party workers led the demonstration. The rally marched from Block Development Office towards main Chowk Bandipora. Holding ply cards and chanting slogans against the authorities for neglecting this constituency for lack of development, Bhat said: “District hospital has been undergoing construction from 15 years and the grid station which took almost a decade to complete hasn’t even been commissioned.”
He said the district has no women’s college. “The Wular project, despite funded over 100 cr rupees, has been left dry as the funds were never utilised properly and were misused by the then government of Omar Abdullah,” Bhat said.
He said the funds under CSR of Kishanganga hydropower project were ‘never utilised properly’ making many villagers around the project feel ‘hopeless and despair’.
“The tribal sub-plans were never utilised leaving the tribal people high and dry,” Bhat said.
