SRINAGAR: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is holding its 32nd Convocation on April 3 (Wednesday), the 03rd April 2019.
“The university is holding its 32rd convocation on April 3, 2019 at the Convention Centre IGNOU headquarters New Delhi where M Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India will be the Chief Guest and deliver convocation address of the varsity at 10. 30 am,” an official statement issued here said.
IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar is also organizing the Convocation at Gandhi Bhawan University of Kashmir, Srinagar where a total of 11,000 students (total number of eligible students to be given) shall receive their Degree/Diploma/Certificates during the Convocation at 10:30am.
“Nazma Yaqoob of district Anantnag for securing first position in order of merit in Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development will receive the gold medal. The students who have registered themselves for receiving the degrees are informed to report at the venue at 10 am,” the statement said.
Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University Prof Talat Ahmad will be the Guest of Honour and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan will preside over the convocation function, it said.
Regional Director, Dr Nurul Hasan said that Srinagar Regional Centre enrolls approximately 34,000 students in different programmes during last academic session. “It has a network of 45 Learner Support Centres in the Region. The Regional Centre has been playing a key role in expanding opportunities of quality higher education in the region, especially to the disadvantaged population of the Kashmir division,” he said.
