SRINAGAR: The 13th edition of state level baseball championship concludes Monday at Islamia College of Science and Commerce ground.
The championship was played in open age category of both boys and girls from across the state participated in which Srinagar girls was able to trash and defeated the Baramulla district girls team in an neck to neck fought by 8:7 homes. Meanwhile, in boys category final team from district Srinagar saw a more emphatic victory defeated the Budgam district boys team by a score of 10:1 home and emerge the state level titles.
Besides Madina from Baramulla and Inayat Hussain from Srinagar where declared the best players of the tournament in their respective category.
The championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association under the auspices of Amateur Baseball Federation of India and sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
Speaking on the closing ceremony, chief guest Professor (Dr) Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, emphasized J&K Baseball Association for the conduction of such a bigger event in a positive way. Prof Ajaz also extended his kind and cooperative support for all sports activities to be held in Islamia College in near future.
Director, Physical Education Department ICSC , Dr Altaf-ur-Rehman, general secretary, J&K Baseball Association Sabreena Jan, and other dignitaries and renowned sports personalities were also present on the occasion.
