Man injured in leopard attack in Budgam

BUDGAM: A man was injured in a leopard attack at Madbal village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.
Sources said that a leopard who had delivered two cubs in dried grass on a cowshed attacked a man who mistook them as cats.
The man has been identified as Shameem Ahmad Bhat and has been shifted to sub district hospital Chadoora for treatment.
Later, the wildlife department reached the spot and took the cubs.
Block officer wildlife block Chadoora Bashir Ahmad said the leopard has fled away from the spot; however her two cubs who were about to die due to starvation and cold have been rescued.
We have provided them food and warm, he said, adding that cages have also been established to trap the leopard.
