SHOPIAN: The strategic Mughal Road that links Kashmir Valley to Rajouri and Poonch area in Jammu is expected to be thrown open for traffic in third week of April this year.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed along with officials of Mechanical Engineering Department, R&B and Mughal Road Division Shopian Saturday took a detailed stock of snow clearance work subject to favourable weather conditions the road would be thrown open more probably in the third week of April for traffic.
The authorities started the snow clearance process this month and almost 23 kilometres of road stretch has been cleared by the authorities.
He added that avalanches on most of the areas hampering the work, urging officials to make proper use of safety gadgets while executing works.
He also advised people and tourists to visit the area after consulting the authorities to avert any kind of accident, adding it would take more time to clear snow from the road.
Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings Shopian, Syed Abdul Qayoom Kirmani, Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Khursheed Ahmad, Assistant Engineer Mechanical Shopian Fayaz Ahmad along with officials of roads and buildings department, mechanical department and officials from Mughal Road Development Shopian accompanied the Deputy Commissioner.
