Srinagar: The Food Safety Commissioner, J&K has warned people to desist from using or selling packaged water of two brands, which it said have been found unsafe for consumption.
A notification issued by Food safety Commissioner, J&K Dr Abdul Kabir Dar said that certain samples of Aqua Nice packaged drinking water and McDowell’s No.1 Platinum packaged drinking water lifted for quality checking have been found unsafe for consumption by the Food Analyst, Public Health Laboratory, Jammu.
The ‘stop use notice’ issued by the commissioner cited presence of microbes, E coli and Coliforms as the reason for the advisory.
The notice also asked stakeholders to discontinue use of the products and stop its sale and supply.
“The stake holders who are in possession of any stock of said food product/s shall inform the local empowered authorities (Designated Officer Food Safety) about stock position of above product/s and also effect market recall,” the notice said.
“This Public Notice is issued as an abundant precaution and without prejudice to the right of the Food Business Operator/s to get the sample reanalyzed from the Referral Food Laboratory as mandated under Section 46(4), Rule 2.4.6 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 Rules and Regulations, 2011.”
