Udhampur: A CRPF soldier shot dead his three colleagues after an altercation broke out in their camp at Jammu’s Udhampur. The accused who also shot himself is critical.
The fratricidal incident occurred at 187 battalion headquarters of CRPF at Battal area of Udhampur, the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) Vijay Singh Choudhary told GNS.
He said that a CRPF personnel Ajit Kumar fired at his three colleagues at around 10:15 pm resulting in grievous injuries to them. The trio succumbed on way to a hospital, he added. They have been identified as head constables; Pokermal of Rajasthan, Yogendra Sharma of Delhi and Umed Singh of Rewari in Haryana.
Kumar, who hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, later also shot himself and was rushed to a nearby military hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) range Jammu, MK Sinha also confirmed the killing of three CRPF men in the fratricidal incident.
“Three Jawans of CRPF of 187 battalion were killed at Battal by a jawan who shot himself but is alive,” Sinha said.
According to him, police has taken up the investigations and further details of the incident are being ascertained.
